Speaking to Rubika Liyaquat, he agreed to the fact that BJP could have preformed better had it stepped into election campaign with a Chief Minister face. Tiwari also agreed that BJP's Delhi election manifesto should have been announced earlier.
New Delhi: After facing a humiliating defeat in Delhi Assembly Elections 2020, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi Unit Chief Manoj Tiwari spoke exclusively to ABP News and discussed at length about the reasons behind party's loss in the national capital. Speaking to Rubika Liyaquat, he agreed to the fact that BJP could have preformed better had it stepped into election campaign with a Chief Minister face. Tiwari also agreed that BJP's Delhi election manifesto should have been announced earlier.
When asked about his claim of winning Delhi polls with 48 seats on Twitter after Exit Poll results were announced, Tiwari said BJP may not have got 48 seats but for the first time our vote share reached around 40 per cent, it was a spike of 8 per cent. "We see it as a moral victory," he said.
"I have not deleted my '48 seats for BJP' tweet. It's just that our calculation went wrong. It is a crime to estimate? We lost several seats by a close margin," Delhi BJP chief said. When asked about the truth behind claims of his resignation post BJP crushing defeat in Delhi polls, Tiwari rebutted the claims and said that neither he has resigned nor the party leadership has asked him to step down.
"Shows their culture..they haven't taken my name directly though. I believe when you win you should become humble," Tiwari said on how he is being trolled on social media after losing polls. He also said that he gets hurt after seeing people trolling or hurling invectives at him on social media post debacle. We may not have got 48 seats but for the first time our vote share reached around 40%, it was a spike of 8%. When asked about his party's stand of Shaheen Bagh protest after elections, Tiwari said now that Arvind Kejriwal has won elections, he must go and urge people to end their agitation. "Arvind Kejriwal should go to Shaheen Bagh. His candidate (Amanatullah Khan) won there by 71,000 votes. It should be his duty to go there and talk to protesters. Now it's their job to improve the city and solve woes," BJP leader said. He also reiterated that the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) are wrong as it does not harm any Indian citizen.Shows their culture..they haven't taken my name directly though.
