Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Alleges CBI Raid In Response To NYT Recognition For Sisodia, Education Model

In his tweet, Kejriwal mentioned a New York Times piece and tied it to the central investigation agency's searches.

The central government was attacked by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, briefly after CBI teams were seen at the house of his deputy Manish Sisodia to investigate disparities in the Delhi excise policy, which has been a source of dispute between the BJP and the AAP for several weeks.

In his tweet, Kejriwal mentioned a New York Times piece and tied it to the central investigation agency's searches.

He stated that there had been prior CBI raids and that nothing will happen this time.

The CBI conducted searches on around 21 places today in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, including the house of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

"The day Delhi's Education model was appreciated and Manish Sisodia's photo appeared on the front page of America's biggest newspaper NYT, the Centre sent CBI at the residence of Manish," Kejriwal tweeted.

"CBI is welcome. Will extend full cooperation. Earlier also there were raid and probe. Nothing came out. Nothing will come out now also," Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

The Delhi education model is being debated throughout the world, the chief minister stated, criticising the BJP.

"They want to stop it… hence the raids on Delhi’s health and education minister," he said.

The CBI raids came just weeks after Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena requested a CBI inquiry into the AAP government's excise policy in the national capital. This sparked a verbal spat between the BJP and the AAP, with the former accusing the latter of corruption.

Later, Sisodia claimed that previous Delhi LG Anil Kumar Baijal had authorised the policy after recommending amendments. The deputy chief minister of Delhi also stated that the former LG's opinion on the policy had shifted.
