Cyrus Mistry Suffered Multiple Injuries, Blunt Thorax Trauma, Rupturing Of Veins In Car Crash: Report
According to the J J Hospital's medical official, the injuries also included vein ruptures that resulted in internal hemorrhage.
Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry and his buddy Jahangir Pandole suffered various injuries and "blunt thorax trauma" in the vehicle collision that killed them instantaneously, according to a medical official at J J Hospital on Tuesday, news agency PTI reported.
According to him, the injuries also included vein ruptures that resulted in internal hemorrhage.
Mistry (54) and Pandole (54) were on their way to Mumbai from Gujarat with two other people when their automobile collided with a barrier on a bridge over the Surya river in Maharashtra's neighbouring Palghar district, some 100 kilometres away, on Sunday afternoon.
On the rear seats, Mistry and Jahangir Pandole perished.
Both the 55-year-old gynaecologist Anahita Pandole who was operating the vehicle and the 60-year-old Darius Pandole who was occupying the front seat were injured but survived.
Later, the remains were sent to Mumbai's state-run J J Hospital, where an autopsy was performed by medical professionals.
"The impact on the bodies of both Mistry and Pandole was sudden and forceful because of the speed of the car. It led to multiple injuries and blunt thorax trauma,” the medical officer was quoted by PTI in its report.
“The multiple injuries also included rupturing of veins causing internal bleeding. However, the primary autopsy report could only indicate some vague symptoms. A detailed analysis will explain everything and the exact cause of the death,” he said.
The viscera sample will be delivered to a forensic science lab in the Kalina area as per regular protocol for a thorough examination, he added.
According to a preliminary investigation, the deceased were not wearing seat belts, a police official previously stated, adding that the accident was caused by the driver's "misjudgment" and overspeeding.
According to the official, the expensive automobile was speeding when the collision happened.
