Narendra Modi Vs Amit Shah: Who Do Indians Want as Their Next PM? CVoter Poll Reveals

A recent CVoter survey of over 25,000 people revealed who Indians want as their next Prime Minister.

CVoter Survey: While the Lok Sabha elections were held last year and PM Narendra Modi emerged as the decisive choice as the Prime Minister, what would the nation choose if the polls were held now? A CVoter survey has now revealed the voters' current choice among PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah, and Mamata Banerjee.

According to the 'Mood of the Nation' survey conducted by India Today in collaboration with C-Voter, Narendra Modi remains the top choice for the Prime Minister’s position. The survey revealed that 51.2% of respondents prefer Modi as the Prime Minister, while 24.9% support Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Mamata Banerjee ranks third, with 4.8% of respondents favouring her as the next Prime Minister.

Amit Shah Ranks Behind Mamata Banerjee

Amit Shah was ranked fourth in the survey behind Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, with 2.1% of respondents backing him for the Prime Ministerial role. Following him was Arvind Kejriwal, with 1.2% of people supporting his candidacy. The survey indicates overwhelming public support for the NDA. If elections were held today, the NDA could form the government with a clear majority, winning 343 seats.

The survey was conducted between January 2 and February 9, 2025, among 1,25,123 respondents across all Lok Sabha segments.

In the last Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 240 seats, falling just short of the majority of 272. The Congress won 99 seats.

Overall, the NDA bagged 293 seats, while the "united" Opposition INDIA bloc won 238. If the elections were held now, the INDIA bloc would be reduced 138 seats.
