Covid Update: India Reports Massive Dip In Cases, Around 1 Lakh New Infections Registered In Last 24 Hrs

India reported 1,07,474 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. As many as 2,13,246 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours which increases the total recoveries to 4,04,61,148.

New Delhi: India reported 1,07,474 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. As many as 2,13,246 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours which increases the total recoveries to 4,04,61,148. The recovery rate currently stands at 95.91 per cent.

The active caseload currently stands at 12,25,011, according to an update by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 

With 865 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll stands at 5,01,979. 

The daily positivity rate and the weekly positivity rate stand at 7.42 per cent and 10.20 per cent respectively. 

A total of 74.01 crore tests have been conducted so far. As many as 14,48,513 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

More than 167.47 Crore vaccine doses have been provided to states and Union Territorries.

As many as 1,69,46,26,697 vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra on Saturday recorded 11,394 new coronavirus positive cases, a drop of 2,446 from the day before, and 68 fatalities, including 28 in the Pune circle, due to COVID-19 related complications, according to a PTI report.

The state did not report any fresh cases of the Omicron variant in the last 24 hours, according to the health department.

On Friday, the daily number of cases had dropped by 1,412 from Thursday's count of 15,252 when 75 people succumbed to COVID-19 infection, the health department said.

With the latest additions, the tally of COVIID-19 cases in Maharashtra rose to 77,94,034. The latest death toll stands at 1,43,008, the department said in a report.

A total of 21,677 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours in Maharashtra, taking the tally of recoveries to 75,13,436, leaving the state with 1,33,655 active cases.

Pune city reported 1,494 cases, the highest by any city in Maharashtra, followed by Nagpur (764), Pimpri-Chinchwad (778) and Mumbai (643), it said.

Delhi

Delhi's positivity rate on Saturday dipped below 3 per cent as the city reported 1,604 COVID-19 cases and 17 fatalities. The positivity rate declined to 2.87 per cent, according to data shared by the health department.

On Friday, the national capital had reported 2,272 fresh COVID-19 cases and 20 deaths, while the positivity rate was at 3.85 per cent.

With Saturday's cases, the national capital's case count increased to 18,42523 and the death toll climbed to 25,969, the latest health bulletin stated.

The number of COVID-19 tests conducted on Friday was 55824, it said.

Delhi had on Thursday reported 2,668 cases with a positivity rate of 4.3 per cent, and 13 deaths.

The number of daily cases in Delhi has been on the decline after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13.
