Coronavirus: India Sees Around 15K New Cases; Overall Covid Tally Soars Past 4.4 Lakh
India experienced another surge in the cases of coronavirus with 14,933 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The total number of Covid 19 cases has now reached 4,40,215 lakhs.
New Delhi: The cases of coronavirus in the country are experiencing daily surges and with 14,933 fresh cases in the last 24 hours the total has now reached 4,40,215 lakhs according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data. The number of active cases in the country is 1,78,014. With 312 fatalities the death toll has now become 14,011.

India’s recovery rate remains high and surpasses that of the number of active cases. Data shows that the total number of people recovered 248189.
Maharashtra is still leading as the worst affected state with a total of 1,35,796 cases out of which 61,807 are active cases. There has been a total of 6283 fatalities.
Delhi has now become the second most severely affected state has breached the 50k mark and according to data has recorded a total of 62,655 cases. There are 23,820 active cases and 2233 deaths in the capital city. Tamil Nadu now stands at third place with a total of 62,087 cases. The state has recorded 27,181 active cases and 794 fatalities. According to a report by IANS, the state government has announced a complete lockdown of Madurai from June 23 to June 30 to control the rising cases of coronavirus cases.

Gujarat remained the fourth worst affected state in the country with a total of 27,825 and 6232 active cases. the state has recorded 1684 deaths so far.
Other states with more than 10,000 cases include Uttar Pradesh (18,322), Rajasthan (15,232), Haryana (11,025) Madhya Pradesh (12,078) and West Bengal (14,358).
Globally, India falls in the list of top 5 countries with the highest number of cases and is still the fourth-worst affected country in the world after Russia with 5,91,465 total cases. The United States is still at the number one spot with a total of 2,311,997, it is followed by Brazil which has recorded 1,106,470 cases. Despite being at the fourth spot, according to data after America and Brazil, the highest number of cases are being registered in India in one day.
