Coronavirus Impact: Arunachal Pradesh Extends Lockdown Till April 30 To Contain Covid-19 Spread

Following the footstep of other states, the Arunachal Pradesh government on Monday announced a similar extension of lockdown in the state as a step to contain the further spread of novel Coronavirus.

Itanagar: The nationwide lockdown due to Coronavirus infection is set to be extended at least until April 30 because of the rise in the numbers of COVID-19 cases. Many states have already announced the extension of the lockdown till April 30. Following the footstep of other states, the Arunachal Pradesh government on Monday announced a similar extension of lockdown in the state as a step to contain the further spread of novel Coronavirus. The state would remain under lockdown till April 30 now, Naresh Kumar, the Chief Secretary said The Chief Secretary also stated that only state-run buses will be allowed to ply on the roads. "Construction work will be allowed to resume after contractors seek permission from authorities concerned, but migrant laborers cannot be employed," he informed. The official further added, "Intensive care units will be set up in hospitals at Tawang, Tezu, Aalo, Pasighat, Ziro, and Khonsa this month". The development comes two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly decided to extend the nationwide lockdown by two weeks during a meeting with all Chief Ministers. This makes Arunachal Pradesh the eighth state to do so after Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab, Odisha, Telangana, Rajasthan, and West Bengal. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address the nation at 10 am on Tuesday. It is expected that this address would throw more light on the status of the nationwide lockdown post-April 14.
