India Records 10,853 New Covid Cases In Last 24 Hrs As Testing In Maharashtra Drops Due To Festive Season

New Delhi: India has reported 10,853 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry. 12,432 patients have recovered on Sunday. The active caseload of the country now stands at 1,44,845 which is the lowest in 260 days.
The country recovery's rate is currently at 98.24% which is the highest since March 2020. The total recoveries in the country rose to 3,37,49,900. The active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.42% which is the lowest since March 2020.
Kerala
Kerala has logged 6,546 new COVID-19 cases and 50 deaths on Saturday, taking the infection count to 50,08,381 and the death toll to 33,515, reported PTI.
The state health department said in a press release that there are 72,876 persons under treatment for COVID-19 in the state of which only seven per cent are hospitalised.
Meanwhile, 6,934 persons recuperated from the disease, taking the total cured to 49,01,369.
Among the districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of fresh infections today--1,037, followed by Thiruvananthapuram with 888 and Kollam 774.
Maharashtra
As Covid testing in Maharashtra has dropped due to festive holidays, the state reported 661 fresh coronavirus positive cases and ten fatalities on Saturday, taking the tally of infections to 66,16,762 and the toll to 1,40,372, according to the health bulletin released by the state.
896 patients recovered from the virus on Saturday in Maharashtra as the total number of recoveries rose to 64,58,045, leaving the state with 14,714 active cases.
However, the new cases were recorded after testing only 70,179 samples as the number of tests decreased due to Diwali. Maharashtra has so far examined 6,31,75,053 samples.
Maharashtra's case recovery rate now stands at 97.6 per cent. The fatality rate is 2.12 per cent, the department said.
Mumbai reported 176 new cases and four deaths, which raised the caseload to 7,58,215 and the death toll to 16,273.
Mumbai division recorded 339 fresh cases, taking the number of the cases to 17,03,506. A total of 35,604 patients have died so far due to COVID-19 in the Mumbai division.
