India Reports Surge With 46K New Coronavirus Cases, Kerala Accounts For Nearly 70% Of Caseload
Kerala recorded 30,000 plus daily infections for the third consecutive day on Friday with 32,801 new cases in the past 24 hours.
Corona Update: India continues to report a surge in daily coronavirus cases for the third consecutive day. The country has registered 46,759 new cases in the last 24 hours.
According to the Health Ministry, India's active caseload now stands at 3,59,775 which accounts for 1.10% of total cases
The recovery rate is currently at 97.56% as 31,374 recovered from the virus on Friday.
India recorded 509 deaths in the last 24 hrs, as per Health Ministry.

India on Friday administered 1,00,64,032 vaccine doses under its Nationwide Vaccination drive. This is the highest ever vaccination achieved in a single day since the start of the vaccination drive. In another significant achievement, India’s Covid 19 vaccination coverage crossed 62 crore (62,09,43,580) landmark milestone as per the 7 pm provisional report on Friday.
Kerala
Kerala recorded 32,801 new Covid cases after 1,70,703 samples were tested on Friday. The test positivity rate has risen to 19.22 percent, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
It also said that the number of active cases is closing towards two lakh, as the figure stood at 1,95,254 after another 18,573 people turned negative. Friday also saw a high of 179 Covid deaths, taking the death toll to 20,313.
Malappuram saw 4,032 new cases, followed by Thrissur with 3,953.
Maharashtra
Pune region recorded the highest 1973 cases in Maharashtra today, followed by 843 from the Nashik region, PTI reported. According to a state health department official, Maharashtra recorded 4,654 covid cases taking the tally to 64,47,442. Among the 170 fatalities reported in the state, the Pune region recorded the highest 91. Pune city has 281 cases and 42 deaths.
