Composition of Cabinet Committees amended; Rajnath Singh now to be part of 6 government panels

Singh was made a member of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) and the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) earlier and he is now a part of six key panels of the government.

NEW DELHI: The Narendra Modi-led government on Thursday amended the composition of Cabinet Committees where it was said that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will now chair the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs and be a part of the all-important panel on political affairs. Earlier, Singh was made a member of only two key cabinet committees including security and now, after the amendment, he is part of six key panels of the government. Singh headed the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs in the last government. The panel takes all decisions pertaining to Parliament matters. On Wednesday, the government had constituted committees on investment and growth to spur the economic growth, and on employment and skill development to deal with the issues of unemployment. It was perhaps for the first time that the cabinet committees on the two issues were set up.
