The man, a call taxi owner and driver, was directed by the court to pay Rs 2 lakh to his wife as part of an interim maintenance order issued during their ongoing divorce proceedings.
On Wednesday, the man drove to the court premises with 20 bundles of coins. He unloaded them from his car and carried them into the courtroom. However, upon submission, the judge instructed him to pay the amount in currency notes instead of the coins, as per a report on Times of India.

After his arrest over non-payment of the due, the man's family brought the 11 months due in seven sacks to the court, as per a report on PTI. Even though the counsel for his estranged wife objected to it, the court permitted the payment and instructed the man to count the coins in the court and make packs of Rs 1,000 coins each. The next day, the advocate of the man said that the coins were packed in seven sacks.
