Man Hacked To Death By 4-Member Gang On Court Premises In TN's Tirunelveli, EPS Condemns Murder

The murder took place when the man identified as Mayandi was waiting to attend a hearing related to the murder of a local panchayat vice president.

Reports indicate that Mayandi had previously survived two murder attempts, raising concerns about escalating violence linked to local disputes.

Tirunelveli news: A man was hacked to death by a four-member gang on the premises of the Palayamkottai court in Tirunelveli on Friday morning. The murder took place when the man identified as Mayandi was waiting to attend a hearing related to the murder of a local panchayat vice president.

On Friday, the gang ambushed Mayandi as he waited for the judge to arrive. Attempting to escape, he ran towards the court gate but the attackers zeroed him. Then they repeatedly hacked him with sickles.

Mayandi sustained deep injuries to his face and body and collapsed in a pool of blood at the gate. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot while the assailants fled the scene in a car.

Reports indicate that Mayandi had previously survived two murder attempts, raising concerns about escalating violence linked to local disputes.

Following this, Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami hit out alleging law and order issues in the DMK-led government.

AIADMK chief said, "How many more days will Mr. Stalin's DMK government go through law and order problems, calling it as "murders due to personal reasons"? My strong condemnation to Mr. Stalin, who has no administrative skills and has disregarded law and order to the extent that criminals have no fear of the law or the state police that protect it. I urge the DMK-led government CM to arrest all those involved in the above crimes and take appropriate legal action, and to shift his focus from photoshoots and partisan politics to his primary duty of maintaining law and order."
