Bhagwant Mann urged PM Modi to allot a special package of Rs 50,000 crore for the next two years to improve the financial condition of Punjab. He also said that AAP would need Centre's support to maintain peace and national security in Punjab.

"We need the support of the Center to maintain national security. Punjab's financial condition is in doldrums. We've demanded Rs 50,000 crores package per year for 2 years to improve state's financial situation," Punjab CM told reporters after the meeting.

Mann even took to Twitter and shared an image of his meeting with PM Modi.

"Called on Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and discussed Punjab issues. I sincerely hope that the burning issue of Punjab will get the necessary support from the Central government," Mann tweeted in Punjabi.

Riding a wave for change, the Mann-led AAP in won as many as 92 seats in the 117-member Punjab assembly in the recently held polls.

Soon after taking charge of Punjab, Mann has promised to work for pro-people policies. The 28th Chief Minister of Punjab has also assured that the officers and employees in the state would work in tandem for the betterment of the lives of the people.

Fulfilling one of the major promises of the AAP government to make Punjab a corruption-free state, Mann has released a WhatsApp number of anti-corruption action line with a vow to completely eradicate the menace of corruption within a month.

Punjab Cabinet, in its maiden meeting last week, gave a green signal for providing 25,000 government jobs to the youth in various departments, boards and corporations of the government.
