Chintan Shivir: Sonia Gandhi Targets PM, Equates ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’ Principle With Fear

The Congress interim president also said the ‘Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir’ is also an occasion to "deliberate on the many tasks ahead of us".

New Delhi: Taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his regime’s principle of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance”, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Friday alleged it means keeping the country in a permanent state of polarisation and compelling the people to live in a constant state of fear and insecurity. “By now it has become abundantly and painfully clear what PM Modi and his colleagues really mean by their slogan,” Gandhi said at the party’s three-day brainstorming session ‘Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir’ in Rajasthan’s Udaipur city, ANI reported.

“It means keeping the country in a permanent state of polarisation, compelling people to live in a constant state of fear and insecurity, viciously targeting victimizing and often brutalizing minorities who are an integral part of our society and equal citizen of our republic,” she added, according to the news agency.

The Congress interim president also said the ‘Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir’ is also an occasion to "deliberate on the many tasks ahead of us".

“It is both ‘chintan’ about national issues and meaningful ‘aatmachintan’ about our party organisation,” she added.

Gandhi further said the ‘Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir’ gives an opportunity to discuss amongst us the numerous challenges that the country is facing as a result of the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliates.

The Congress has made some important decisions in the ongoing ‘Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir’, including the one family, one ticket proposal, as it eyes to oust the BJP from power in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress has also decided that no person will hold any post beyond five years in the party.
