Four Minors Among Six Individuals Arrested For Raping 13-Year-Old In Chhattisgarh

Police arrested six individuals, including four minors for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur when the girl was returning home at night after attending a wedding on June 4.

Six individuals, including four minors, have been arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, a police official said. The incident occurred on June 4 in the Sanna police station area when the girl was returning home at night after attending a wedding, PTI quoted Superintendent of Police Shashimohan Singh as saying.

"The victim's father lodged a complaint on Wednesday after which an FIR was registered. As per the complaint, the girl was stopped by accused Manoj Kumar (24) and two minor boys. She tried to escape but they dragged her into a forested patch and raped her. Three others, including accused Praveen Painkre (21) and two minors, arrived there and raped her," the SP said.

The girl returned home early Wednesday morning and informed her parents, who later contacted the police, he added.

"Three special teams were set up and all the accused were rounded up by Thursday morning. Kumar and Painkra were arrested and the four minors, in the 16-17 age group, have been detained. Further probe into the crime is underway," the SP further added. 

Principal Arrested For Raping 15-Year-Old Girl Student In UP

In a separate incident, a school principal was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl student. The FIR was registered on Thursday after a purported video of the incident was circulated on social media, an official said.

Sirathu Avdesh Kumar Vishwakarma, Circle Officer (CO) said, "We have booked DK Mishra (40), who is the principal of a private school, for raping a 15-year-old girl student of the school."

Based on the complaint, the accused has been booked by the police at the district's Kokhraj police station under Section 376 (rape) and the related provisions of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.

Police revealed that the alleged incident took place in April. "The girl was allegedly threatened by the accused to not tell anyone about the incident. The family members however came to know about it when the video of the incident was posted online," said the officer, PTI quoted saying. "Teams have been formed to arrest the accused, who is currently absconding," the CO added.
