'Corrupt And Sinister Kingpin Of Mahadev App Scam': BJP Slams Chhattisgarh CM Baghel

A strict action would be taken against him that no one will dare to commit similar frauds in the future, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said.

The BJP attacked Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel on Monday over the Mahadev betting app issue, stating that he was the scam's "kingpin" and that he robbed the state to replenish the Gandhi family's coffers throughout his tenure, news agency PTI reported. Elections to the 90-member Chhattisgarh legislature are being held in two parts, the first of which was finished on November 7 and the second of which will be held on Friday. The ED reportedly stated that forensic research and a statement made by a "cash courier" led to "startling allegations" that the app's promoters paid Baghel around Rs 508 crore.

A strict action would be taken against him that no one will dare to commit similar frauds in the future, BJP national spokesman Gaurav Bhatia said at a news briefing at the party headquarters.

Baghel not only enriched himself by stealing people's hard-earned money through the fraud, but he also shared a portion of it with the Gandhi family, according to the leader of the state's opposition party, the BJP.

Slamming Congress over the Mahadev app scam case, Bhatia stated: "It's known to everyone that a two and a half years' term formula was supposed to be implemented in Chhattisgarh. But after two and a half years, a corrupt Bhupesh Baghel continues to remain the chief minister...it is because of him filling the Gandhi family's coffers with public money." According to the BJP spokesperson, Baghel was granted "an extension" by the Congress to pillage Chhattisgarh and engage in corruption since he was "good" at it.

"The BJP says 'Har Har Mahadev' while Bhupesh Baghel says 'Ghar Ghar Mahadev app'," he alleged.

Bhatia asserted that the people of Chhattisgarh had resolved to give a "corrupt and sinister" Baghel a lesson in these elections.

He referred to Baghel as the "kingpin" of the alleged scheme and stated that given the severity of the investigative agencies' actions, the "kingpin" will not be spared.

"The kingpin of this entire 'gotala' (scam) is Bhupesh Baghel...Such an action will be taken against you that it will be an example. No one will dare to indulge in such corruption after this," Bhatia added.
