Checkout PM Modi's special birthday wish for Jonty Rhodes' daughter 'India'
New Delhi: In a specialgesture, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted South African legend Jonty Rhodes' daughter on her second birthday.
The 47-year-old former cricketer shared a photo of the 2-year-old nmed ‘India’ on her birthday on Twitter. Modi retweeted his post and said, "Happy Birthday to India, From India". PM Modi's birthday tweet clocked over 7,600 retweets within 12 hours.
India Jeanne was born in 2015 at a hospital in Mumbai. Rhodes is mesmerized with the cultural and traditional diversities of India and considers the country as his second home. "With the name like India, she will have the best of both worlds and that sort of balance," Rhodes had said in a ninterview after ‘India’ was born. Rhodes in an interview to daily mid-day ahad said his wife Melanie never had issues in naming their daughter ‘India’ and she also is in love with country’s heritage. "She really enjoys coming to India. She's learnt yoga. She loves the fact that you can go from mountains to oceans… there is a lot of diversity (in India). So, we weren't really concerned (about naming her India)," Rhodes said. He plays an integral role in improving the agility of cricketers in the squad. He is an avid traveler and is often seen clicking snaps at various picturesque sites in the country. Rhodes, a spending fielder, came first to the world’s attention with the diving run-out of Pakistani cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq during the 1992 World Cup. He retired from Test cricket in 2000 and from ODI cricket in 2003 after an injury during the 2003 Cricket World Cup. Rhodes also represented South Africa at hockey.
