CBI Likely To Record Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan's Statements In Extortion And Bribery Case

The CBI is planning to record the statement of actor Shah Rukh Khan, his son Aryan Khan and manager Pooja Dadlani in the case of extortion and bribery lodged against Sameer Wankhede.

In the latest updates that have emerged in the Central Bureau of Investigation's case of extortion and bribery lodged against the former Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede, the investigation agency is planning to record the statement of actor Shah Rukh Khan, his son Aryan Khan and manager Pooja Dadlani. The statement is expected to be recorded in the coming days. The case of the CBI is that Wankhede and others accused had allegedly demanded Rs 25 crore bribe from actor Shah Rukh Khan for not framing his son Aryan Khan following the alleged seizure of drugs from a cruise ship.

The Narcotics Control Bureau vigilance report revealed that 25 crore rupees were demanded from  Shah Rukh Khan to release his son Aryan. Later the deal was closed for Rs 18 crore. An amount of 50 lakh rupees were taken as the first installment. The CBI questioned Sam D’Souza, a private individual, who was also involved in the alleged extortion case, on June 20.

D'Souza was summoned by the federal probe agency to join the investigation. On June 20, he arrived at the CBI headquarters here with his lawyers. "Sam D'Souza arrived with his lawyers. The CBI had issued a notice today at 10:30 a.m. summoning him for questioning at the CBI headquarters in Delhi," news agency IANS reported citing a source.

Earlier this month, the Bombay High Court had extended Wankhede’s prevention from arrest for another two weeks. The High Court had listed the next hearing in the case on June 23. While Sameer Wankhede had filed the plea to quash the case registered by the CBI against him, the central investigating agency has appealed to the court to remove the protection he presently enjoys from being arrested.

The CBI pleaded to the court that there are very 'serious' and 'sensitive' allegations of bribery against Wankhede and hence his relief from arrest should be denied. On the other hand, Sameer Wankhede's lawyer sought time from the court to amend the petition.

Earlier Wankhede told Mumbai Police that he was receiving threats through fake Twitter account in the name of gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Wankhede grabbed headlines two years back for arresting Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan in the Cordelia cruise drug bust.
