'Chronology Samajhiye Aap': Priyanka Gandhi's Double Barrel Attack On Amit Shah, BJP Over CAA-NRC

Borrowing Shah's "understand the chronology" remark on National Register of Citizens and Citizenship Amendment Act, Priyanka took a swipe at the Central government over the widespread protests across the country against the new Citizenship act and the proposed NRC.

New Delhi: In what might be considered as a double barrel attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Amit Shah, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday took a veiled dig at Home Minister and the saffron party and said that "youngistan will not budge". Borrowing Shah's "understand the chronology" remark on National Register of Citizens and Citizenship Amendment Act, Priyanka took a swipe at the Central government over the widespread protests across the country against the new Citizenship act and the proposed NRC. “Understand the chronology... First they will promise you two crore jobs. Then they will form the government. Then they will destroy your universities. Then they will destroy the country’s constitution. Then you will protest. Then they will call you a ‘fool’ but youngistan will not budge,” the Congress leader tweeted in Hindi. Several Opposition parties including the Congress is opposing the Citizenship Act alleging it to be unconstitutional and discriminatory. "Aap chronology samajh lijiye (please understand the chronology)," Shah had said during a media interview ahead of Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year. In the interview, he had reportedly said first the CAB will come followed by NRC and not just for Bengal but for the entire country. However, he had also assured that refugees will not have to worry about this. The statement made by BJP leader is being widely spread on social media these days - with some considering it to be BJP's commitment, while others using the clip to counter PM Modi's recent claim that no discussion over NRC has been done since his government came to power in 2014. Massive protests erupted across the nation after a crackdown on the students of the Jamia Millia University in Delhi and the Aligarh Muslim University for protesting against the new legislation. Violent protests are being reported from various parts of the country including national capital and Uttar Pradesh. Earlier in the day, Shah while speaking at a rally in Shimla once again assured the people of the country that no one will be stripped off their citizenship, several on the other hand believe that the law is against the Muslim community and damages the secular fiber on the constitution.
