Bomb Blast In Bihar's Sasaram, 6 Injured ‘During Handling Of Illegal Explosives’, 2 Arrested: Police

The blast took place a day after communal clashes broke out in the city on the occasion of Ram Navami.

A bomb blast was reported from Sasaram in Bihar’s Rohtas district on Saturday evening. Five people were injured in the blast and have been referred to the Banaras Hindu University Hospital. The cause of the blast is still not known and the cops are probing all possible angles.

"It has been found that 6 persons were injured during the handling of illegal explosives at a private property in Rohtas; a team of forensic experts is conducting an investigation at the spot. Two persons arrested," Rohtas Police informed.

The Bihar Police revealed that information about the explosion was received after which the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team reached the spot to investigate the matter.

"The blast was reported at a shanty and a scooty has been recovered from the area. Prima facie it does not appear to be a communal incident," the police said, as quoted by ANI.

The police team, Special Task Force (STF), and Para Military forces conducted a flag march in Sasaram on Saturday.

The blast took place a day after communal clashes broke out in the city on the occasion of Ram Navami.

On Friday, the local administration in Sasaram city imposed Section 144 after clashes broke out between two groups during Ram Navami procession. According to the police, people resorted to stone pelting and also vandalised several vehicles and roadside stalls. After receiving information about the clash, police immediately reached the spot to control the situation.

Similar incidents of violence were also reported from Biharsharif. The Bihar police has so far arrested a total of 45 people for arson, violence and clashes in Nalanda and Sasaram during Ram Navami. Giving the information on Twitter, the police department added that situation in Biharsharif of Nalanda and Sasaram of Rohtas is completely under control.

A heavy security personnel deployment continues in Nalanda in the wake of the clash between the two groups.

The police said, "Two FIRs have been registered in Nalanda and Rohtas and 27 and 18 people have been arrested respectively after identifying anti-social elements."

"Ram Navami procession has been completed in Bihar Sharif and Sasaram. An adequate number of force and magistrate's deputation is going on at both places. Senior officials are camping at the spot. Social media is being monitored." the police added.
