BMC polls: 'Shiv Sena approached us seeking support' says Sanjay Nirupam

New Delhi: Mumbai Congress Chief Sanjay Nirupam raised several brows on Saturday when he said that Shiv Sena approached his party seeking support in the BMC elections. While addressing the media Nirupam said, “Some Shiv Sena leaders approached us; but we categorically said we can't ally with communal party that does politics based on caste and religion”. Nirupam further made it clear that Congress wouldn’t join hands with Sena in the elections. “We have decided not to join hands with Sena in the appointment of Deputy Mayor. On the other hand, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that his party wouldn’t form any alliance with Congress at any cost. Sena is likely to spell out stance on the fluid situation after the meeting of senior leaders and corporators called by Thackeray on Saturday evening.
