BJP Not Laying Claim To Form Next Govt In State: Union Minister On Maharashtra Political Crisis
The party has no communication with any Shiv Sena legislators, Danve told media.
New Delhi: Union Minister and leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Raosaheb Patil Danve, stated on Wednesday that the political crisis in Maharashtra was an internal Shiv Sena affair and that the BJP was not laying a claim to form a government in the state, news agency ANI reported.
The party has no communication with any Shiv Sena legislators, Danve told media.
"We haven't spoken to Eknath Shinde. This is Shiv Sena's internal matter. BJP has nothing to do with this. We're not staking claim to form the government," the Union Minister was quoted by ANI in its report.
In the midst of the growing political crisis in Maharashtra, rebel Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde stated on Wednesday that the party must leave the "unnatural alliance" in order to survive, adding that only the constituent parties benefited from the coalition government's rule in the state.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray stated on Wednesday that he was prepared to tender his resignation to party MLAs who may take it to the Raj Bhavan. His administration is in turmoil as a result of a rebellion inside his party.
According to him, he was also ready to step down as party leader if party members demanded it.
Noting that certain party MLAs were working to have him removed, he said they might have expressed their displeasure to him instead of travelling to Surat. If "even a single MLA" is against him, according to Thackeray, it is a cause of shame for him.
Thackeray stated that he would only quit at the request of party MLAs.
As Eknath Shinde asserted that he has the backing of 46 MLAs, including six to seven Independent MLAs, the crisis facing the Shiv Sena-led government intensified on Wednesday.
