'Will Seek Help From MEA, Qatari Envoy For Release Of Indian Techie Detained In Qatar': BJP MP Hemang Joshi
Amit Gupta, an Indian national in Qatar, was arrested in January for allegedly stealing data. Indian authorities are assisting Gupta, who has been held for three months without charge.

Amit Gupta, an Indian national from Vadodara, Gujarat, who has been wrongfully jailed in Qatar for allegedly stealing data for which an inquiry is still underway, is receiving all the help from Indian authorities, according to persons familiar with the situation.
Authorities in Qatar arrested Gupta, a senior employee of the IT company Tech Mahindra, on January 1. His elderly parents, distressed by the situation, has reached out to Vadodara MP Hemang for help.
According to BJP MP Hemang Joshi, Gupta has spent the last ten years working for Tech Mahindra in Qatar. Joshi stated that he was arrested and placed under custody by Qatari security forces.
"His parents had gone to Qatar for a month and tried to meet him but they did not succeed," the member of parliament for the BJP said. "In coming week, I will be writing a letter to seek help from MEA and Qatar's Ambassador in Delhi regarding this case", the MP added.

What Amit Gupta's Mother Said?
The family of Amit Gupta said that he is innocent and have been wrongfully accused of data theft. They have asked the Prime Minister's Office to step in and demand his immediate release.
Amit Gupta's mother Pushpa Gupta said, "Amit Gupta was taken away on January 1 and held for 48 hours without food or water. After that, he was locked in a room, and it has now been three months. The reason for his detention is still unknown..."

According to the persons, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Indian embassy in Qatar is aware that Gupta is being held by Qatari police in connection with the ongoing investigation.
One of the individuals stated, "Our embassy continues to provide all possible assistance in the matter and is closely following the case," without providing specifics about the case or the accusations made against Gupta.
According to the persons, the Embassy has maintained constant communication with Gupta's family, his attorney, and Qatari officials, IANS reported.
