'Injected Virus, Urinated On Face': BJP MLA Munirathna Booked After Woman Accuses Him Of Gangrape

The FIR, filed at RMC Yard Police Station, stated that the incident took place on June 11, 2023, at Munirathna’s office in Mathikere, located near Yeshwanthpur in northwestern Bengaluru.

A BJP MLA in Karnataka, Munirathna, has been named in a gangrape case filed by a 40-year-old woman who identifies herself as a party worker. The woman has made harrowing allegations, including sexual assault, physical abuse, and being injected with what she claims was a life-threatening virus.

Details of the Complaint

The FIR, filed at RMC Yard Police Station, stated that the incident took place on June 11, 2023, at Munirathna’s office in Mathikere, located near Yeshwanthpur in northwestern Bengaluru, as per a report on PTI. The survivor alleged she was invited under the guise of receiving help to dismiss false criminal cases, which she claimed were instigated by Munirathna himself.

According to her complaint, once inside the office, the MLA and two associates allegedly stripped her and threatened her son’s life. She alleged that the MLA reportedly instructed the two men to sexually assaulted her. Further, she claimed that during the ordeal, Munirathna urinated on her face, escalating the trauma.

A fourth individual, whose identity remains unknown, allegedly entered the room with a white box and the woman alleged that Munirathna then drew a substance from the box and injected her with an unknown fluid, reported India Today.

Legal Action

In January 2025, the woman was hospitalised and diagnosed with an incurable virus. Believing this was a consequence of the injection, she reportedly attempted self-harm on May 19, after which she formally approached the police.

Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and an investigation is ongoing. Three named individuals and one unidentified person are under scrutiny, though no arrests have been made so far.

Meanwhile, Munirathna, a producer-turned-politician, is a four-time BJP MLA from Rajaraheshwari Nagar of Karnataka.
