BJP Appoints CP Joshi As Its Rajasthan Unit President, Virendra Sachdeva Made Delhi Unit Chief

BJP national president JP Nadda appointed CP Joshi as party state President of Rajasthan and Virendra Sachdeva as Delhi BJP State President.

Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda on Thursday appointed CP Joshi as party State President of Rajasthan. He also appointed Manmohan Samal as Odisha's party State President and Virendra Sachdeva as Delhi BJP State President, as reported by the news agency ANI.

Last year in December, Sachdeva was made the working president of Delhi BJP after Adesh Gupta resigned as Delhi BJP chief. He left his post after the BJP's defeat in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. After his resignation, Gupta said that he took moral responsibility for the defeat in the MCD elections.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections, winning 134 of the total 250 wards. The BJP finished a close second, tallying over 100 seats. The win saw the AAP unseating the BJP from the helm at MCD after a 15-year rule. The Congress only managed to win 9 wards, it worst-ever haul in the Delhi civic polls. Three more seats went to Independents.

In Bihar, Samrat Chowdhary has been made the President of Bihar BJP. Before joining BJP in 2018, Chowdhary was a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal and Janata Dal (United).
