Bihar: RJD Chief Lalu Yadav Hits Back At Amit Shah, Claims BJP Will Be Routed In 2024 Lok Sabha Polls
On Shah’s claim that the BJP will storm back to power at the Centre in 2024 and also form the government in Bihar a year later, Lalu said, “We will see”.
New Delhi: Day after Amit Shah slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for betraying the people’s mandate and ditching the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav hit back at the Union Home Minister and stressed the need for all Opposition forces to come together with an eye on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
A PTI report quoted Lalu as telling media persons, “Amit Shah has gone crazy. His government has been removed in Bihar. The BJP will face a rout in 2024 as well. That is why he has gone running to Bihar, speaking of the jungle raaj and other things. What did he do when he was in Gujarat?”
“There was jungle raaj in Gujarat when he was there,” claimed the ailing RJD patriarch and the former Bihar chief minister, adding, “Amit Shah bilkul paglaye hue hain (Amit Shah seems to have lost it totally).”
On Shah’s claim that the BJP will storm back to power at the Centre in 2024 and also form the government in Bihar a year later, Lalu said, “We will see”.
Citing Nitish Kumar’s track record of ditching allies, Shah had claimed that the Janata Dal United (JDU) chief will dump the RJD again in pursuit of power. However, denying any such possibility, the RJD chief sought to insist that the two parties are together.
Lalu, who, along with the Bihar CM, is likely to call on Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday evening, said, “We are making every effort to forge Opposition unity.” He added that the need for the Opposition to put up a united front will be the core agenda of their meeting with the Congress president.
Addressing a public meeting in Bihar’s Purnea on Friday, the Union Home Minister accused former ally Nitish of backstabbing the BJP in pursuit of his prime ministerial ambitions while "sitting on the laps of the Congress and the RJD”.
Shah claimed the jodi (pairing) of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav will be wiped out (soopda saaf') in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the BJP will form the next Bihar government on its own.
“Bihar does not want the grand alliance’s ‘jungle raaj’,” he said.
