'Congress Needs To Introspect The Defeat,' Says Tariq Anwar After Poll Debacle In Bihar

“We must accept the truth. Due to the weak performance of the Congress, Bihar was left out of the Grand Alliance government. MIM's entry into Bihar is not auspicious sign,” his tweet quoted.

Bihar Elections 2020: Congress general secretary and former union minister Tariq Anwar on Thursday launched an attack on his own party after the Congress was only able to secure 19 seats out of the 70 contested. The leader in a tweet said that the party should accept defeat and introspect the loss. He also stated that Asaduddin Owaisi led AIMIM winning 5 seats in the state is not a good sign for the electoral future of the party. Due to the weak performance of the Congress, Bihar was left out of the Grand Alliance government. MIM's entry into Bihar is not auspicious sign,” his tweet quoted. After the statement of the general secretary took to spark on the social media, his opinion was backed by another senior leader of the party and MP PL Punia. Backing Anwar’s opinion Punia said that the party should review the bad performance in the elections so that another situation like that may not arrive in the next elections. Taking a dig at the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leader and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Anwar said that until the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is pleased Nitish will tale the CM oath, till when the goat’s mother shall celebrate. Though the BJP has won the elections, Bihar has lost. In the recent Bihar Assembly elections 2020, part of the Grand Alliance in the state Congress only managed to win  19 out of the 70 seats it contested as a part of seat-sharing with the RJD and the left parties. Whereas the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Lennist) (Liberation) (CPIML) has made a comeback in Bihar with 12 seats, and the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPIM) won 2 seats each. While the Tejashwi Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won on 75 seats. After which Tejaswi Yadav the CM face of the per-poll alliance fell short of forming the government despite RJD becoming the single largest party and many have blamed it on Congress' poor performance. Now, leaders in the Congress party is raising their voice all over again. On the other hand, Nitish Kumar led NDA won 125 seats, even though JDU only managed to get 43 seats, while the BJP secured 75 seats. PM Modi on Wednesday while addressing the party workers at the BJP HQ Delhi made it clear that Nitish Kumar will continue to be the CM of the state.
