Bihar Corona Testing Row: CM Nitish Kumar Talks About Irregularities; Says 'Action Taken'

A recent report had revealed that the Bihar Government conducted less number of tests and revealed more numbers in testing data. It has also been alleged that a huge amount of money was rigged in the entire process.

With the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led opposition demanding a high-level inquiry into the fudging of COVID-19 testing data in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday said the matter has been investigated and due action has been taken where loophole was noticed.

The Janata Dal (United) leader said that he asked Bihar's Principal Secretary to look into the matter. "He (Principal Secretary) said the matter has been investigated and 22 districts have already been looked into. This was seen at one location and action is being taken. He also spoke to the journalist of the newspaper which reported it," Bihar CM informed media persons on Friday.

Earlier in the day, the state’s Health Department issued a video stating the confusion arose as two people registered themselves with the same number prior to the test.

A health department official conversed with a daughter and her father for around 90 seconds to find out when and how did they get the corona tests done. The girl responds that she got the corona test done on January 20. When quizzed whether the result was out soon, both father and daughter responded the result was out after two days from Patna. They added that the result was negative.
