In the alliance that comprises of RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), CPI and CPI(M), Yadav’s party got its quota of 144 seats of the 243 seat-strong assembly. Tejashwi said RJD will accommodate old alliance partner Vikashheel Insaan Party (VIP) and JMM its ally in adjoining Jharkhand from its quota. Here is a look at seat distribution of grand alliance:
  • Congress: 70 seats
  • RJD: 144 seats
  • CPI(ML): 19 seats
  • CPI: 6
Congress has received nearly twice as many seats as it had contested in the 2015 assembly polls in alliance with the RJD and JD(U). The Congress will also be fielding its candidate in Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha seat where by-poll will be held on November 07. The announcement comes after days of deliberations over the crucial issue of seat sharing. After making the announcement, Yadav vowed to dislodge the government headed by Nitish Kumar. It is to be noted that RJD had come up as the largest party in the last assembly elections. Riding on the previous success party leaders are once again hopeful of emulating it. However, the responsibility of steering the party, this time lies solely on the shoulders of Tejaswhi Yadav as party supremo Lalu Yadav is missing from the electioneering process this time.
