Big Jolt To Azam Khan As Jauhar University's 7 Acre Land Lease Cancelled
Earlier, the SDM court had given orders to remove gate of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University built on PWD land, within 15 days.
NEW DELHI: Another major setback for Rampur MP Azam Khan by the SDM Court of Rampur as the court suspended the land lease of the Mohammad Ali Jauhar University of Azam Khan. The university was given a lease of 7 acres of land during the Akhilesh government in Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier, the SDM court had given orders to remove gate of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University built on PWD land, within 15 days. The Court had also said that if the gate is not removed in 15 days, it'll be demolished. The Court also imposed a fine of Rs 3,27,60,000 on University Chairman and Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan.
The former Uttar Pradesh minister was named in the FIRs lodged in connection with the alleged forcible acquisition of land for Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, of which he is the founder and Chancellor. District Magistrate A K Singh said that the "farmers had claimed that Azam Khan had acquired their land for Jauhar University through coercion".
"The name of those who have acquired someone's land with alleged criminal acts and continue to have possession over it are included in the list on the portal," the DM pointed out.
The Samajwadi Party, however, alleged that the move was a conspiracy by the Rampur District Magistrate to defame Khan and the university.
Senior Samajwadi Party leader Ram Govind Chaudhary has accused that the charge of land grabbing against Khan is fake as the university about which it is being levelled is 16 years old and no one had raised it till now.
Chaudhary alleged Muslims and Yadavs were being targeted in the state as per a plan.
