Bhagwant Mann Quotes Bhagat Singh In His First Speech As Punjab CM | Key Points

Post the swearing-in ceremony, Mann addressed the crowd that had gathered at the venue. He began his address by thanking the people of Punjab who gave a huge mandate to the Aam Aadmi Party.

New Delhi: Bhagwant Singh Mann was sworn in as Punjab’s 17th Chief Minister today in Khatkar Kalan which is the ancestral village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

The event was attended by AAP national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia among other senior leaders. Mann was sworn in by Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

Post the swearing-in ceremony, Mann addressed the crowd that had gathered at the venue since morning. He began his address by thanking the people of Punjab who gave a huge mandate to the Aam Aadmi Party.

During his address, Mann remembered Bhagat Singh and quoted him as he recited one of his couplets. He said, "Ishq karna sabka paidaishi haq hai kyun na is baar watan ki sarzamin ko mehboob bana liya jaye.” (Loving someone is everyone’s birthright. Why not we make out country our beloved this time).

Mann also recited a funny couplet during his address and said, “Hukumat wo krte hain jinka dilon pr raaj hota hai, yun kehne ko toh murge ke sar pe bhi taaj hota hai.” (Those who rule the hearts are the ones who rule the masses, otherwise a cock also has a crown on its head).

The Key points from Mann’s speech are:

  • Those who fought for the country’s freedom, we should remember them. They are not meant to be remembered only on specific occasions, but every day.
  • For me, Khatkar Kalan is not a new place, I have kept coming here.
  • The fight of AAP is the same as to make the world for which dreams were seen by Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters.
  • The kind of love the people of Punjab have shown is the one for which I will have to take multiple births to repay.
  • We are the government of those also who did not vote for us as this is a democracy.
  • It is the people who take someone to heights and to the ground.
  • Freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh were not only concerned for freedom but also in whose hands the country will go after freedom.
  • This is the land where Bhagat Singh was hanged, and we should never leave this land. We should stay here to make our country a better place.
  • Just like people come to visit schools in Delhi and Mohalla clinics, we will make schools and hospitals in Punjab in a way that people from abroad would come and click photos here.
  • In the future, February 20, 2022, would be written down in history books as the day people started voting without any greed or selfish interests.
  • I would like to thank Arvind Kejriwal for making the party by being on hunger strike for days.
  • We will start working from today, as we do not want to waste any time. We are already 70 years behind.
  • He also urged people to not indulge in any kind of fights with others on social media.
