Encounter Breaks Out In J&K's Bandipora Amid Search Op For Pahalgam Attackers

. The encounter took place during a cordon and search operation in the Kulnar Bazipora area of Bandipora district.

An encounter broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Friday between security forces and ultras, said the officials. The gunfight takes place as the security forces undertake search operation to nab the attackers in the Pahalgam terrorist attack the killed 26 people. 

A cordon and search operation was launched by the security forces in the Kulnar Bazipora area of Bandipora district following information about the presence of the ultras in the area, the officials said, reported PTI. 

The search operation turned into an encounter after the ultras opened fire on security personnel, they added. 

No casualties have been reported so far in the incident. 

"On 25 Apr 2025, based on specific intelligence input regarding presence of terrorists, a Joint Search Operation was launched by #IndianArmy and @JmuKmrPolice in general area Kolnar Ajas, Bandipora. Contact was established and firefight ensued," said the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army on X.
