Baba Ramdev on Lok Sabha elections 2019: 'No leader in competition with PM Modi right now'

Earlier, in 2014, Ramdev had openly supported the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its then prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

New Delhi: Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev in an exclusive interview with ABP News expressed his views on upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2019. According to Baba Ramdev, as of now none of the leader from Opposition party or any other party can match the stature of Narendra Modi or is as versatile or dynamic as him to replace him as the prime minister of India. "No leader is in competition with PM Modi right now," he said. Earlier, in 2014, Ramdev had openly supported the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its then prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. He further cleared the air on whether he will campaign for any political party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2019. Ramdev said that he was not bound by political limitations and mother India is his first priority. He added by saying that the present political atmosphere of the country is not good. Watch Video- When asked about the mud-slinging between the Congress and the BJP recently over the controversial Rafale deal, Ramdev said, "Politics should be issue-based. Development, health, education, infrastructure, policies, be it agricultural, health or industrial policies, how the country will progress, there should be debates on these topics." "But there is dirty politics in the country. Both the government and the oppositions are using foul language, this is not good for the country," Ramdev said. Ramdev was speaking on the backdrop of the inauguration of a new campus of Patanjali-backed Acharyakulam - a school based on Indian education system - in Haridwar on Thursday. Acharyakulam is based on Indian education system where along with Modern and Vedic education, the creation of the world-class citizens is also done. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the then Gujarat Chief Minister had inaugurated the Acharyakulam in the year 2013.
