'We Respect Ayodhya Verdict But Aren't Satisfied': Sunni Waqf Board May File Review Petition

Giving out his first reactions, Geelan said the verdict was not satisfactory, contained several contradictions and incorrect findings. "We will decide further course of action," he added.

New Delhi: Sunni Waqf Board's lawyer Zafaryab Jilani on Saturday said he was not satisfied with the judgment in the Ayodhya land dispute case. In a historic judgement, the Supreme Court today ruled that the disputed land of 2.77 acre will be given to the Hindus. It directed the Centre to form within three months a trust which will build a temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya. In the Board of trustees, appropriate representation must be given to Nirmohi Akhara, the bench said. In a unanimous judgment, a 5-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, said the Sunni Waqf Board, which was a party to the title suit, should be given an alternate land somewhere else to build a mosque. Giving out his first reactions, Geelan said the verdict was not satisfactory, contained several contradictions and incorrect findings. "We will decide whether to file review or not and then take a call on further course of action ," he added. However, Jilani said the judgment will be respected and appealed for peace.
