Assam-Mizoram Border Clash: Ruckus In Assembly, Assam To Send 2 Ministers With 'Peace Message' To Mizoram
The statement came as the Assam Assembly saw accusations over the border confrontation with Mizoram, with opposition MPs engaging in a verbal argument with the government.
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that his ministers Atul Bora and Ashok Singhal will travel to Mizoram's Aizawl on Thursday to deliver the message of peace from the state's people.
The statement came as the Assam Assembly saw accusations over the border confrontation with Mizoram, with opposition MPs engaging in a verbal argument with the government.
The Speaker was compelled to call a 40-minute recess for the House.

Opposition members rushed to the Well, demanding that the conflicts be investigated by a neutral body such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also poured on the Well to refute the opposition MLAs' remarks.
Previously, Congress MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha said that the continuing dispute with Mizoram began in October 2020 and inquired why the administration did not respond to the Opposition's concerns at the time.
According to him, the party sent a letter to the Union administration notifying them of the situation.
"Even after that, why did personnel of Assam Police die? Whose fault was this?" Purkayastha further questioned.
"We have to solve our problems through dialogue and the process has already started. But I would like to inform the House that 34 people died in their (Congress) tenure (in inter-state clashes) since 1974," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika replied as reported by Times Now.
He also asserted that Assam and Mizoram were not two separate countries.
Last month, violent clashes occurred along the Assam-Mizoram border over the two north-eastern states' border dispute. In the deadly confrontations that grew violent despite police involvement, at least six Assam Police officers and one civilian were murdered. During the disturbances, 50 persons were hurt, including Cachar SP. Both state administrations blamed one other for the turmoil and the chief ministers of the two states were engaged in a heated feud on social media.
