'CM Arvind Kejriwal Placed Under House Arrest,' Alleges Aam Aadmi Party; Cops Deny Claim

Arvind Kejriwal Under House Arrest: Delhi Police has put CM Arvind Kejriwal under house arrest ever since he visited farmers at Singhu Border yesterday, tweets Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Arvind Kejriwal Under House Arrest: Delhi Police has put CM Arvind Kejriwal under house arrest ever since he visited farmers at Singhu Border yesterday, tweets Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The party has said that no one has been permitted to leave or enter his residence. "CM met farmers at Singhu border yesterday. He had said that we'll serve them like 'Sevadars' and support them. After he returned, Delhi Police barricaded his residence from all sides, putting him in a house-arrest like situation, at the behest of Home Ministry," said Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP leader. No one is allowed to go inside, he is not allowed to come out. MLAs, who had a meeting with CM yesterday, were beaten up by Police when they went to meet him. Workers were not allowed to meet him either. BJP leaders are being made to sit outside his residence, he said. Delhi Police denies allegations: Denying the allegations made by Aam Aadmi Party, , Anto Alphonse, DCP North, Delhi said: "it is a general deployment to avoid any clash between AAP and any other party. CM has not been put under house arrest." This statement is absolutely incorrect. As being the CM of Delhi, he can move around wherever he wants, Alphonse said. On Monday, Kejriwal had extended support to the farmers' 'Bharat Bandh' call and assured that his party workers and supporters would participate in the 'peaceful' protest. Singhu Border, is one of the protest sites where thousands of farmers from Punjab and Haryana are on continuous sit-in since November 26 demanding the abolition of the three contentious farm laws enacted in September during the Monsoon Session of the Parliament. It was Kejriwal's first visit to any of the farmers' protest sites. During his visit, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor said, "My government's and party's support is with the protesting farmers." Kejriwal and his party have openly expressed their solidarity with the protests being held by the farmers against the three agrarian laws passed by the centre and have been critical of the legislations enacted by the Centre, however, the Delhi government has already notified one of these controversial laws. He further said that AAP supporters and MLAs were continuously trying to provide maximum help to the farmers here and expressed hope that the farmers would get a solution to their demands very soon.
