Arvind Kejriwal attacks PM Modi, demands apology for inviting Pak JIT

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched a frontal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inviting Pakistan's Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to India to probe the Pathankot attacks. "Prime Minister Modi must apologise and reply as to what deal was struck when he had gone to wish Nawaz Sharif 'Happy Birthday' on 25 December," Kejriwal told reporters here. "People from the RSS and BJP keep saying 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' and then invite ISI to India for probe, People of this country are angry. They will never forgive the Modi government for this act," he added. Earlier in the day, Kejriwal had criticised the Prime Minister on Twitter, saying "The country has been betrayed by the Prime Minister," in response to reports that Pakistani investigators have concluded that the deadly terror attack at the Pathankot air base was staged to "malign Pakistan". The scathing attack by the Chief Minister comes after sources told Pakistan Today that the JIT has slammed India over its claims of Pakistani hand in the attack, saying that New Delhi continues to expand its propaganda "without having any solid evidence to back the claim". One of the JIT members said that the brutal murder of NIA official Tanzil Ahmed, who was probing into the Air Base attack is evidence that India wants to keep the matter under wraps, reported Pakistan Today. The report also claims that the Indian Government did not cooperate with the JIT and instead made efforts to hinder the probe by the Pakistani team. On Friday, the JIT returned to Pakistan after their five-day visit to India during which all evidence pertaining to the January 2016 attack was shared with them, including the DNA of four terrorists, their identities as well as call records showing involvement of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The JIT had on Thursday examined 13 witnesses, including former Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh.
