Army's Assault Dog 'Zoom' Critically Injured While Fighting Terrorists In J&K's Anantnag. Watch Video

The Indian Army sent its assault dog named Zoom inside a house on Monday morning where the militants were holed up.

An Indian Army assault dog, named Zoom, was critically injured during an encounter between security forces and militants in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, the official Twitter of the Chinar Corps, Indian Army posted.

Zoom was rushed to the Army’s Vet Hospital in Srinagar where the canine is currently under treatment, the officials said, news agency PTI reported. 

"Op Tangpawa, #Anantnag. Army assault dog 'Zoom' critically injured during the operation while confronting the terrorists. He is under treatment at Army Vet Hosp #Srinagar. We wish him a speedy recovery," the post read. 

The army also posted a video of Zoom and his bravery. "We wish Army assault dog 'Zoom' a speedy recovery."

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Tangpawa area of the south Kashmir district late on Sunday night after receiving specific input about the presence of terrorists there, news agency PTI reported.

"Zoom is a well-trained, ferocious, and dedicated canine. Has been trained to track down and apprehend terrorists," they stated. 

Zoom, as usual, was tasked with clearing the house where terrorists were hiding on Monday, they said.

However, the canine was shot twice and critically injured during the operation, according to officials.

"Zoom identified and attacked the terrorists, during which the canine received two gunshots," they said.

According to officials, the canine continued fighting and performing his task, resulting in the deaths of two militants.

"Inspite of severe injuries, the brave soldier continued his task which resulted in neutralisation of two terrorists," they added.

Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in the encounter, while as many soldiers were also injured.
