Another man killed in Delhi for opposing objectionable remarks against daughter
Rakesh's family members rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he died during treatment, police said.
New Delhi: In yet another horrific incident, a man was bludgeoned to death allegedly by his neighbours after he opposed to their objectionable remarks against his three-year-old daughter in southeast Delhi's Pul Pehlad Pur area on Tuesday. It brings back unpleasant memories of the Moti Nagar incident in which a man was similarly killed by two men who had harassed his daughter.
Speaking about the Pul Pehlad Pur incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said ‘a scuffle broke out between Rakesh and Krishna following a heated argument over the objectionable remarks against the former's daughter, Other people in the neighbourhood intervened in the matter and separated the two.”
After half-an-hour, Rakesh, along with his wife Pooja and brother Mukesh, reached outside Krishna's house, the DSP said.
Pooja told police that Krishna and his brother Ranjeet attacked her husband with a sharp object, he said.
Rakesh's family members rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he died during treatment, Biswal said.
A case was registered in the matter and Ranjeet and Krishna were arrested, he added.
Last month, Dhruv Tyagi, a 52-year-old businessman was stabbed to death with a knife when he was returning home with his daughter in Moti Nagar area. The victim's 19-year-old son was also stabbed when he tried to intervene to stop the argument after some men harassed them. Police arrested a 45-year-old man, the main accused, and his 20-year-old son in connection with the killing. His two other sons, both minors, have also been apprehended.
The wife and daughter of the main accused were also arrested for allegedly helping the accused and arranging a knife for the attak.
Rejecting communal angle into murder case, the family of the victim had denounced efforts on social media to give the incident a communal colour and said in fact their Muslim neighbours had first come to rescue them and took them to the hospital.
