Amarnath Yatra 2022: Pilgrims Can Apply For Online Registration From April. Check Other Details

New Delhi: Pilgrims looking to undertake the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath can apply for online registration from April onwards.

The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) on Thursday informed about the starting of the registration process for pilgrims through online mode from April, according to news agency PTI report.  

The board said the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) -based tracking will be in place to track the movement of vehicles during the pilgrimage to the revered shrine in the Himalayas.

What you should know about the registration process?

A high-level meeting chaired by Jammu divisional commissioner Raghav Langer was held to review the arrangements of the upcoming yatra.

Pilgrims can also opt for on-spot registrations at designated counters during yatra days.

To ensure the safety of Amarnath pilgrims, the board has decided to use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for tracking the movement of vehicles and pilgrims during this year’s pilgrimage to the revered Shrine.

The RFID tag cards will be issued to all the pilgrims, said the divisional commissioner. The divisional commissioner instructed the DCs to install an adequate number of toilets, water coolers en-route highway for the convenience of the pilgrims.

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual pilgrimage in 2020 and 2021 was conducted on symbolic basis. This year, the number of pilgrims is expected to be high compared to the previous years.

Accordingly, authorities have been directed to increase accommodation capacities, holding spaces in respective districts. The DCs were directed to identify suitable places for langers and accommodation of devotees, vehicles holding in their respective districts.

The DCs were also directed to ensure the availability of CCTVs, lighting and Genset arrangements at Langer sites. All concerned departments have been told to start gearing up to ensure that necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance.
