Alwar Case: Rajasthan BJP Demands CBI Probe After Medical Report Rules Out Rape

BJP state chief Satish Poonia said that the party demands a CBI inquiry to find the truth. Crime in a peaceful state like Rajasthan has increased over the last three years, he added.

New Delhi: After the medical reports of the mentally-challenged Alwar girl allayed rape apprehensions, the opposition BJP in Rajasthan has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter while Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot urged all political parties to let the police complete its probe independently.

Speaking to reporters of news agency PTI, BJP state chief Satish Poonia said that the party demands a CBI inquiry to find the truth. Crime in a peaceful state like Rajasthan has increased over the last three years, he added.

Taking a dig at Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who was on a personal visit to Ranthambore for a couple of days, Poonia said that although she raised the slogan ‘Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon’ in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka ignored the Rajasthan incident.

On the other hand, according to All India Congress Committee secretary and co-in charge of Uttar Pradesh Dheeraj Gurjar, Priyanka had a word with the girl’s father and assured him of all possible help. She also requested CM Gehlot to take care of the girl’s treatment and demanded immediate action against the culprits, Gurjar added.

Meanwhile, Gehlot said that it would not be right to make any statement that are uncalled for and it would be justified to allow the police complete the investigation before reaching any conclusion.

A separate team led by a DIG rank official has been sent to help the Alwar Superintendent of Police in the ongoing probe, he added.

A medical report on Saturday ruled out the possibility of rape of the girl, who was found lying on a bridge near Tijara Fatak in Alwar on Tuesday night.

According to doctors, her rectum was displaced and she underwent a two-and-a-half-hour surgery. They said that they are yet to ascertain how they girl sustained such grievous injuries on her private parts.

The girl is being treated at the hospital and the police are carrying out a thorough investigation, Gehlot said on Saturday, adding that he was personally monitoring the developments in the case.

Meanwhile, taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, the National Commission for Minorities sought a report on the matter from the Rajasthan Chief Secretary latest by January 24.

Earlier, Alwar SP Tejaswani Gautam had said that the girl travelled around 25km from her village and reached Alwar in an auto-rickshaw and walked towards the Tijara Fatak bridge ‘on her own’.

As per CCTV footage of various locations, the girl was found to be walking in many areas of the city and on the bridge. However, no camera found her in a distressed condition on the bridge, the SP had said.
