AIADMK MPs seek time to meet President Mukherjee

New Delhi: Amid political uncertainty in Tamil Nadu following the war within the ruling AIADMK, several parliamentarians of the party have sought an appointment with President Pranab Mukherjee to seek early resolution of the crisis. The MPs, most of who stayed away from proceedings of the Parliament on Wednesday as they were preoccupied with the fast-paced political developments in the state, will reach the national capital by Thursday morning. The only party MP who took part in the House proceedings was P. Venugopal. But he refused to speak on the issue, saying "Wait and watch". Sources said that party MPs have sought time to meet the President to convey their concerns about alleged delay in the swearing in ceremony of party General Secretary V.K. Sasikala by Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao. Rao, who is in Mumbai, is expected to play a key role in resolving the crisis. Acting Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Tuesday raised the banner of revolt, alleging he was forced to quit, while party General Secretary V.K. Sasikala has accused him of trying to split the party with support from the DMK.
