Actor Salman Khan Meets Mumbai Police Commissioner Over Threat Letter

Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan had received a threat letter last month after which the former had applied for a license to carry weapon for self-protection which is why he met with Mumbai CP.

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Salman Khan on Friday met with Mumbai Commissioner of Police, Vivek Phansalkar at the latter's office in south Mumbai, said the officials, reported news agency PTI. Last month Khan and his father Salim Khan had recieved a letter threatening that both the father-son due would meet the fate of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, who was shot dead in May this year, after which actor's security was tightened. In this context, Khan had met city's top cop as he had also applied for a license to carry weapon for self-protection, as per ABP News sources. 

However officials said that it was just a courtesy visit and had nothing to do with any case, as per a PTI report.  The actor also met with Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Vishwas Nangre Patil at the Mumbai police headquarters. 

The sources futher told that commissioner enquired from the actor as to what kind of threats he had received after which he informed Khan about his security. 

Earlier this month, Salman Khan's lawyer Hastimal Saraswat had alleged that he had also received anonymous death threats through letters reading 'enemy's friend is enemy', news agency IANS had reported. As per the report, Saraswat had filed a complaint at Jodhpur Police Station alleging that he received letters saying "will do something like Moose Wala". 

Last week, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who is currently being questioned in connection with the assasination of Sidhu Moose Wala, reportedly admitted that he wanted to kill Salman Khan in 2018 over the blackbuck poaching case.
