Delhi: 4 Apprehended After Amanatullah Khan's Supporters 'Manhandle' ACB Official Amid Raid, Video Surfaces

The AAP MLA was arrested after the ACB raided four locations related to Khan and his business partner, from where cash and weapons were recovered.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan's supporters allegedly manhandled officials of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) during raids at his residence in Jamia Nagar on Friday, September 16.

In a video posted by news agency ANI, a group of men can be seen pushing and cornering the ACB official. Four persons have been apprehended for obstructing the raiding party of ACB during the official discharge of their duty, the Delhi Police said on Sunday, as reported by ANI.

The Anti Corruption Bureau conducted raids at the premises of Amanatullah Khan and his aides in the national capital on Friday in connection with the Waqf Board case.

The ACB then arrested the AAP MLA in connection with the Delhi Waqf Board corruption case based on the recovery of incriminating material and evidence against him during the conducted searches.

A weapon was found at one of the locations. It is learnt that he could not show any license of the recovered arms (Breta pistol). However, the MLA came out in his defence and said that he was arrested in a "baseless and outright fake" case.

The ACB had summoned Khan in connection with the case which pertains to financial misappropriation and other irregularities in the functioning of the Delhi Waqf Board.

According to the officials, a total of Rs 24 lakh in cash was recovered along with two illegal weapons.

As per an official statement, Khan while working as Chairman of Delhi Waqf Board, illegally recruited 32 persons violating all norms and government guidelines and with allegations of corruption and favouritism.

The statement further said that four locations were searched based on the inputs received while questioning and based on information developed by the Anti-Corruption Branch.

A Delhi court sent Khan to four-day custody on Saturday. Special Judge Vikas Dhull passed the order on a plea moved by the ACB, which said it needed to interrogate Khan for a thorough investigation.

In its plea seeking Khan's 14-day custody, the agency claimed that five of Khan's relatives were appointed to the board, while 22 were from Okhla, AAP MLA's assembly constituency.
