Jammu & Kashmir: 3 Army Jawans Killed In Shootout In Kulgam

Three army jawans have succumbed to injuries after an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district.

Three army jawans who were injured in a gunbattle with militants in Jammu and Kashmir' Kulgam have died, reported news agency ANI citing Indian Army. Earlier on Friday, Kashmir zone police informed on Twitter that an encounter broke at high reaches of the Halan forest area of Kulgam district and that both Army and Kulgam Police are on the job. Later in the evening, the police tweeted that three soldiers were injured in the gunbattle and were being evacuated to a hospital while a search operation has been launched in the area.

"Three (03) jawans got injured in the encounter. They are being evacuated to hospital for treatment. Search in the area intensifies. Further details shall follow," the Kashmir Zone Police had tweeted.

However, the jawans succumbed to the injuries.

LeT-Linked Outfit's Network Busted

Meanwhile, in another development, the Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday apprehended three terrorist associates linked with the banned terror outfit 'The Resistance Front' (TRF) in the Natipora area of Srinagar. The operation was conducted by a small team of the "special operations group" targeting TRF, an offshoot of the proscribed terror organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

A select team of Srinagar police set up a checkpoint at Harnabal Natipora after receiving some specific intelligence inputs, leading to the arrest of the three terrorist associates.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Imran Ahmad Najar, a resident of Bulbul Bagh Baramulla; Waseem Ahmad Matta, hailing from Qamarwari Srinagar; and Wakeel Ahmad Bhat from Pazalpora Bijbehara.
