Honda Launches Amaze VX With CVT

It attracts a premium of upto Rs 83,000 over the Amaze VX MT variant

Honda has added the option of a CVT automatic with the top-spec VX variant as well. Until now the CVT option was limited to the S and V variants. The Amaze VX CVT is being offered with both petrol and diesel engine options and is priced at Rs 8.57 lakh and Rs 9.67 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. Where the Amaze VX CVT diesel attracts a premium of Rs 73,000 over its manual counterpart, the petrol Amaze VX CVT costs Rs 83,000 more than petrol Amaze VX MT. Moreover, the Amaze VX CVT costs Rs 41,000 more than the V CVT variant. The additional features it gets for the premium include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reverse parking camera with guidelines, extra USB port and one-touch up/down for the driver. However, it misses out on cruise control which is limited to the VX MT variant. Along with the introduction of CVT on the top-spec variant, Honda has also updated the standard list of safety features on the Amaze. Along with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat anchors, it now gets a high speed alert system and a co-passenger seatbelt reminder as well. This has been done to comply with upcoming safety regulations that will be implemented from July 1. Mechanically, things have remained unchanged. The petrol Amaze comes with a 1.2-litre engine that makes 90PS of power and 110Nm of torque. The diesel Amaze, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 80PS and 160Nm, which is similar to what it churns out in other CVT variants but 20PS/40Nm less than what it generates in the manual Amaze diesel. Both the engines are mated to a 7-step CVT transmission. As far as fuel economy is concerned, where the petrol Amaze CVT can return 19kmpl, the diesel sedan has a mileage of 23.8kmpl.
