Honda Details India-Bound 2019 Civic Facelift
The tenth-gen sedan gets subtle design changes, bigger wheels and more with its mid-life refreshed model
Honda unveiled the tenth-gen Civic facelift in August 2018 with a couple of pictures. Now the carmaker has detailed the 2019 sedan through more info and another set of pictures. The Honda Civic is all set to make a comeback in India in the first quarter of next year. Now that the facelifted version is out, India is likely to be among the first markets to receive the updated version.
The 2019 sedan comes with refreshed front and rear profiles and new wheels. The full-LED headlamps up front have been redesigned ‘for a longer and wider beam.’
The newly introduced Sport variant in the US, which you see in the pictures here, gets 18-inch wheels (+1 inch compared to the regular pre-facelift model). On the whole, the Civic has remained unaltered and Honda has just made subtle changes to keep it competitive. However, it doesn’t matter to us since we never received the pre-facelift tenth-gen model, which was showcased at the Auto Expo in February 2018.
Like its exterior, the interior too remains largely untouched. The biggest change comes in the form of a redesigned 7-inch infotainment system. The pre-facelift model had capacitive buttons like the previous Accord Hybrid, which is on sale in India. The system received its first redesign with the CR-V, but the SUV only gets a volume knob while the rest of the buttons are still capacitive. The Civic, on the other hand, gets all physical buttons, which are much easier to use on the go. Honda highlights that the interface is also new with the 2019 Civic.
It has already been confirmed that the India-spec Civic will not get the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol. Instead, we will get a naturally aspirated petrol along with a first-ever diesel engine option: the 1.6-litre i-DTEC. It remains to be whether the India-spec model would get the bigger 2.0-litre petrol, same as the CR-V, or the 1.8-litre motor like the previous Civic. More on this here.
Prices of the Honda Civic are expected to begin somewhere between Rs 15 lakh-18 lakh (ex-showroom) when it goes on sale early next year.
