Named as ‘FlexPai’, this new smartphone has a fully flexible display with a combination of mobile phone and tablet equipped with Royole's 2nd Generation, ultrathin fully flexible display.

New Delhi: The concept of foldable smartphones has been making the headlines every now and then and major tech giants including Samsung have been associated with the reports of coming up with the next-generation mobile devices. However, breaking the obvious, a Chinese company Royole Corporation has launched what may be the world's first foldable smartphone. Named as ‘FlexPai’, this new smartphone has a fully flexible display with a combination of mobile phone and tablet equipped with Royole's 2nd Generation, ultrathin fully flexible display. When unfolded, the FlexPai turns into a 7.8-inch tablet that’s about as big as an iPad mini. The screen has a 1920 x 1440 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio. The company claims that the new-gen smartphone has been tested to withstand more than 2 lakh times open-and-shut movements giving it years of use before any damage to the picture. The Chinese smartphone maker also claims that FlexPai can be used either folded or unfolded, giving it the portability of a smartphone plus the screen size of a high-definition tablet. "FlexPai's screen is virtually unbreakable and extremely durable passing tests where the screen has been bent over 200,000 times," the company claims. The smartphone is equipped with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8-Series Flagship SoC. It also integrates most powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced chip process technology. When it comes to camera specifications, FlexiPai includes two quality lens that make taking photos or videos more convenient. Its flexible display can be bended to capture objects at unique angles and when folded either side has a camera ready to point and shoot. According to the company, the foldable smartphone should also ship with some fast-charging technology. The phone features a USB-C port and no headphone jack. Other specs include 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. As of now, the 128GB and 256 GB variants are available for pre-order in the United States priced at $1,318 and $1,469 respectively.
