Encounter Between Maoists And Greyhounds In Visakhapatnam; Five Ultras Neutralised

The encounter took place in KOYYUR forest, MAMPA police station limits. Combing operation continues.

Visakhapatnam: In a sudden turn of events, an encounter broke out between Maoists and Greyhounds in Visakhapatnam. As per the early inputs, five Maoists have been gunned down.

Sources aware of the incident informed that the encounter took place in morning hours on Wednesday. An exchange of fire took place between CPI(Maoist) and Greyhounds parties at Theegalametta forest near Koyyru area under PS limits of Mampa, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

News agency ANI reported that a gunbattle broke out between Naxals and police in the Koyyuru village of Visakhapatnam this morning.

 BV Krishna Rao, SP Visakha Rural initially told ANI, "At least three Naxals killed in the incident. Combat operation underway."  

The search operation is underway. Official have ordered to cordon off the area. Meanwhile, several arms and weapons have been recovered from the encounter site. The recovered weapons inclide, AK-1, SLR-01, Carbon-01, .303 Rifle- 03, Tapancha-01.
