Drunk Mumbai Man Ploughs Jaguar Into Parked Tempo In Andheri, Dies

Despite the lockdown, Mumbai reported two separate incidents of car crashes within 24 hours.

New Delhi: If you thought the streets were safe during the lockdown then think again. In Mumbai, Maharashtra which has become the epicentre of the coronavirus in India, major accidents were reported 24 hours apart. According to a report by The Free Press Journal on Tuesday a high-end Jaguar car rammed into a parked tempo late at night in MIDC area in Andheri (E). The incident occurred around 10.20pm on Tuesday. According to reports the driver who has been identified as Hitesh Shah, 35 was driving in an inebriated condition. The report say that the police said that Shah who is a Vile Parle resident was driving in the opposite direction in a drunken state. He lost control of the vehicle and crashed onto a parked tempo. Shah sustained serious injuries in the accident and was immediately rushed to Cooper hospital, where he died during the treatment. The report also quoted a senior police official who said that the hospital is yet to determine if he was driving under influence, but a strong stench of liquor was coming off from him. Even though the MIDC Police lodged a case against him, Shah died in the morning today due to his injuries The Mumbai Police has also tweeted about the incident. They have also highlighted that ‘driving out unnecessarily during lockdown is not allowed and driving drunk is definitely never allowed.’
India is currently in its third phase of a lockdown or Lockdown 3.0 while some relaxations have been provided by the government, being outdoors without any purpose is still forbidden. In Maharashtra were the cases of coronavirus have reached 24,427 stringent measures are being taken to control the spread of the virus. Despite the imminent threat of the virus, it seems those who have the means can take advantage of the empty roads although this is proving to be costly for their life. According to reports, another car crash was reported yesterday in Mumbai when a 19-year-old crashed his car onto a stationary bus in the evening. While his co-passenger was declared dead, the teenager driving the car is admitted to the hospital.
